Prepare Seed Trays or Pots:
Fill seed trays or small pots with a high-quality seed starting mix. Ensure the mix is moist but not waterlogged.
Sow the Seeds:
Sprinkle the lavender seeds over the soil surface. Press them gently into the soil, but do not cover them as they need light to germinate.
Provide Moisture:
Mist the soil surface with water or use a watering can with a fine spray to keep the soil consistently moist. Avoid overwatering, as lavender seeds are sensitive to excessive moisture.
Cover for Germination:
Cover the seed trays or pots with clear plastic wrap or a plastic dome to create a mini greenhouse effect. This helps maintain humidity and warmth.
Maintain Warmth and Light:
Place the seed trays or pots in a warm location or under grow lights. Lavender seeds typically germinate best in temperatures around 70-75°F.
Be Patient:
Germination may take several weeks. Once you see tiny seedlings emerge, remove the plastic covering.
Provide Adequate Light:
Move the seedlings to a sunny windowsill or continue using grow lights to provide them with sufficient light for healthy growth.
Transplanting:
When the lavender seedlings have developed a couple of sets of true leaves and are sturdy enough, transplant them into larger pots or directly into your garden.
